Turkey is one of the rare countries producing non-GMO cotton, and the only countries producing non-GMO cotton in the world are Turkey, Greece and Spain. However, Turkey stands out among other countries in terms of textile production.
The sustainable cotton project “GMO Free Turkish Cotton” initiated by the Izmir Commodity Exchange and the National Cotton Council, the GMO Free Turkish Cotton certification program was created with the participation of the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association in the executive committee and becoming a partner of the brand.
GMO Free Turkish Cotton Standard is a standard established for monitoring the purchase, processing and use, determining producer criterias and certification of cotton main and by-products produced using non-GMO seeds in Turkey.
