The GOTS revision process, which takes place every three years, has officially begun for Version 8.0, with the first public consultation currently open until 7 March 2025.

A Transparent and Inclusive Revision Process
GOTS is a dynamic standard that continuously evolves to support better textile processing methods. Its revision process is based on stakeholder input, ensuring that industry experts, certification bodies, and other key players contribute to shaping the future of sustainable textile certification.

The GOTS Standards Revision Committee (SRC) 2025 has been constituted and is actively reviewing stakeholder feedback. The revision process follows the Standard Setting Procedure (SSP) and involves multiple consultation phases, allowing for comprehensive and inclusive decision-making.

First Public Consultation Open – Stakeholder Input Encouraged
The first public consultation period for GOTS Version 8.0 began on 2 January 2025 and will remain open until 7 March 2025. During this phase, stakeholders from across the textile industry are encouraged to provide their insights and recommendations. The Standards Revision Committee (SRC) will review all inputs from April to June 2025, after which a second public consultation will take place in July 2025.

This revision process is crucial in ensuring that GOTS remains relevant, effective, and aligned with evolving environmental, social, and regulatory requirements.
