Ferrero’s Hazelnut Purchase Commitment Revised

,

The Competition Authority has made changes to Ferrero’s purchase commitments. The previously determined purchase quantity has been updated, reduced by 15,000 tonnes in line with the company’s request.

The Competition Board has made a significant change to the purchase commitments of Ferrero, one of the largest players in the hazelnut market. At the company’s request, the Board reduced the purchase quantity of shelled hazelnuts by 15,000 tonnes. Thus, the previously set purchase obligation of 45,000 tonnes has been reduced to 30,000 tonnes under the new decision.

This sharp drop in purchase volume signals a possible shift in the hazelnut market’s balance. Producers and industry representatives interpret this development as the beginning of a new era for the market. How the decision will affect free market prices in the coming season is already a matter of curiosity. Attention is now focused on the concrete effects of Ferrero’s new purchasing policies on producers.
