Global Standard Expands Scope

GOTS

Global Standard, the nonprofit organization behind the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), has released its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting significant advancements in sustainable textile certification and organizational strategy.

In 2024, GOTS Version 7.0 was fully implemented, marking a milestone in due diligence and sustainability criteria. Concurrently, the revision process for GOTS Version 8.0 commenced, aiming to incorporate provisions on circular economy and climate change mitigation.

A notable innovation was the release of results from an AI satellite project capable of distinguishing organic from non-organic agricultural fields, enhancing transparency in organic certification.

The #Behindtheseams campaign achieved remarkable outreach, engaging over 70 million individuals worldwide, thereby raising awareness about sustainable textiles.

Strategically, Global Standard revised its Vision and Mission for the first time in 22 years, expanding its scope beyond a single standard to provide tailored sustainability solutions across various sectors of the textile industry.

These developments underscore Global Standard’s commitment to leading sustainable transformation in the textile sector through innovation, expanded engagement, and strategic evolution.
