GOTS Due Diligence Handbook

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and the UpRights Foundation have jointly released the GOTS Due Diligence Handbook for Certified Entities, aiming to advance sustainability, human rights, and ethical business practices in the textile sector. The Handbook is a pivotal extension of the GOTS 7.0 version, providing certified entities with essential guidance for responsible business practices. It’s grounded in international frameworks, including the OECD’s 2018 guidance for responsible garment and footwear supply chains and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The Handbook serves as a structured roadmap, assisting companies in developing and refining their management systems for preventing and mitigating adverse impacts on human rights and the environment. GOTS is undergoing an OECD Alignment Assessment to evaluate its criteria’s alignment with OECD’s due diligence guidance, a process expected to conclude in January 2024.
