The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) has announced the launch of a new online training platform called the Global Standard Academy, aimed at supporting a better understanding and correct implementation of the standard in the field of organic and sustainable textiles. This new learning hub, which is available free of charge, seeks to provide clear and comprehensive content on the core concepts, criteria, and implementation processes of the GOTS certification system.
The Global Standard Academy is designed for a broad audience, ranging from companies newly entering the GOTS system to already certified organizations, as well as industry professionals and students. The training content available on the platform addresses key elements of the GOTS system—such as traceability, due diligence, third-party certification, supply chain responsibilities, and certified product claims—through a clear and practical approach.
The objective is to enable users not only to read the standard text, but also to integrate its requirements more accurately into real business processes. The modules offered within the Academy consist of short, easy-to-follow videos, explanatory materials, and interactive sections designed to assess knowledge levels. Users can progress at their own pace, focus on the topics most relevant to their needs, and gain a clearer understanding of GOTS criteria. This structure is intended to help reduce differences in interpretation and common misunderstandings that often arise during implementation.
GOTS representatives note that the Global Standard Academy has been designed as a dynamic platform and that its scope will be expanded over time with new training modules. This initiative is regarded as an important step in line with GOTS’s principles of transparency, accessibility, and continuous improvement, supporting higher levels of knowledge across the sector and the wider adoption of sustainable textile practices.
