OECD Assessment Confirms Strong Alignment of GOTS with International Responsible Business Conduct Frameworks

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), one of the world’s leading textile certifications, has been officially recognised by the OECD for its strong alignment with the organisation’s Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains in the Garment and Footwear Sector.
Key Outcomes of the Assessment:
Of 167 criteria evaluated, 69% were found fully aligned, 29% partially aligned, and only 2% not aligned.
GOTS meets all six key components of the OECD due diligence framework: policy commitment, risk identification, prevention, tracking, public communication, and remediation.
The standard provides a clear and actionable structure across environmental, labour, and supply chain integrity domains.
Rahul Bhajekar, Managing Director of Global Standard, commented:
“This milestone confirms that GOTS is more than just a certification—it’s a robust tool that supports businesses in identifying and managing risks related to human rights and environmental impacts.”
This independent recognition underscores GOTS’s value as a credible, risk-based due diligence framework, fully in line with OECD recommendations and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
