The Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) announced the next phase of its 2030 Strategy on March 5, 2026 in Amsterdam, aimed at scaling organic cotton production and supporting a more resilient global supply chain. Building on ten years of proven results, the strategy expands OCA’s impact areas, simplifies participation for brands and retailers, and increases global supply through new partnerships.
OCA’s updated strategy takes shape across three key areas. The impact scope expands beyond farmer income to encompass climate and nature outcomes such as soil health, greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity, and water stewardship, as well as social priorities, with data systems strengthened to support measurement and reporting across these areas. On participation, the newly established OCA Farm Fund reduces administrative complexity for brands and retailers while offering farmers a more predictable and stable support mechanism. On the supply side, existing work in India, Pakistan, and Türkiye is being expanded while strategic partnerships are being established to reach new sourcing regions in Africa and Latin America.
According to OCA’s verified data, farmers participating in the programme earned on average over 9% higher net income per hectare than their non-organic peers between 2021 and 2024. As global demand for organic cotton continues to grow, OCA’s expanding partnership network and strengthened data infrastructure will continue to shape the sector’s reference framework on supply chain transparency and sustainable sourcing.
