SFA Product Tracking Standard v1.1 comes into force on March 1, 2025

The SFA Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard v1.1, published last year, will enter into force on March 1, 2025 and will replace the current SFA Chain of Custody Guide v3.1.

This transition represents an important step towards strengthening supply chain traceability and integrity within the SFA certification system. By introducing more structured requirements, the new standard is aligned with industry best practices to ensure a more transparent and seamless certification process.

Why this change and why now?
The March 1, 2025 effective date was specifically set to provide sufficient time for Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) to update their systems, while ensuring they are prepared for the upcoming harvest season. This planning aims to ensure a smooth transition for all stakeholders.

With this update, organizations certified under the SFA Product Tracking System will have to comply with the v1.1 standard. The new standard includes innovations that increase the traceability of the supply chain and offer a stronger audit mechanism.

For more information on the SFA Product Tracking Standard v1.1 and to comply with the requirements before the effective date, we encourage you to review the relevant documentation.
