With the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette dated 28 March 2025, some existing boards were amended and the Agriculture and Food Policies Board was established. With the new board, it is aimed to place the policy development process in the field of agriculture and food on a more holistic and strategic basis.
The duties and authorities of the Board cover a wide range of areas from food health to the effective use of water resources, from the protection of domestic gene resources to the monitoring of biosafety policies.
Prominent Tasks of the Board:
- To develop policy recommendations by making risk analyses on food health and safety,
- To create strategies for increasing the supply and quality of plant and animal products,
- To develop policies to prevent water wastage,
- Conducting research to improve production and consumption habits,
- To prepare support policies for the protection and breeding of domestic gene resources,
- Developing strategies in the field of biosafety and monitoring their implementation.
The Agriculture and Food Policies Board is expected to play an important role in strengthening Turkey’s sustainability in agriculture and food.
