The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute has officially published its latest standard, C2C Certified® Circularity, on October 15, 2024. This groundbreaking certification will become effective on January 15, 2025, offering companies a new framework to design and verify products optimized for circularity.

This certification focuses on circular product development, addressing areas such as product design, material sourcing, circular systems, packaging, and material health. It enables companies to design products for their next use while ensuring they actively circulate within reuse or recycling pathways. The goal is to decouple value creation from carbon emissions, minimize waste, and increase resilience over the long term.

Backed by rigorous third-party verification, C2C Certified® Circularity provides an accessible pathway for companies to meet and exceed evolving regulations. The certification is closely aligned with the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and supports compliance with state-level requirements in the U.S., including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies.

As part of the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Version 4.1 framework, this new certification builds on over 20 years of expertise in circularity and sustainable design, ensuring companies have measurable goals to align with global circular economy initiatives.
