The European Commission has made significant changes to maximum residue limits (MRLs) for pesticides with the adoption of Regulation (EU) 2025/1305 on 2 July 2025.
The regulation updates the annexes to EU Regulation No. 396/2005 and sets new MRL values for substances such as amidosulfuron, azoxystrobin, hexythiazox, isoxaben, propamocarb and tefluthrin. Additionally, specific maximum residue limits are defined for the first time for picloram and sodium silver thiosulphate.
Furthermore, special import tolerances have been introduced for melons and watermelons imported from Brazil and blackberries and raspberries from the United States. The European Commission stated that this regulation aims to strengthen food safety and protect consumer health.
