GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. GOTS was founded by four well-reputed organisations: Organic Trade Association (OTA, USA), Internationaler Verband der Naturtextilwirtschaft (IVN, Germany), The Soil Association (UK) and Japan Organic Cotton Association (JOCA, Japan). This standard is an international certification system that verifies textile products are made from organic fibers and comply with specific environmental and social criteria. GOTS requires products to meet certain standards throughout all stages, from agricultural production to processing, packaging, and labeling. These standards limit chemical use, reduce water and energy consumption, and consider worker rights and social criteria. This ensures the quality, environmental impact, and social responsibility of organic textile products.
