Chemical compliance standards are being reshaped in the European market. ECHA has taken a new step to restrict the use of bisphenols, which have endocrine-disrupting properties. Led by Germany, this initiative aims to prevent the common industry practice of “replacing a harmful substance with a similar derivative.”

Key Details:

  • Expanded List: The restriction is not limited to known BPA; it also covers derivatives such as BPS, BPF, BPB, and BPAF.
  • Sectors Affected: A broad supply chain—ranging from plastics and packaging manufacturers to the textile, leather processing, and paper industries—will be affected by this decision.
  • Key Date: The restriction dossier (Annex XV) is scheduled to be submitted by March 12, 2027. After this date, the legal process will officially gain momentum.

To closely monitor regulatory developments and ensure your business processes are in compliance, you can review ECHA’s latest announcements.
