Heat Safety Inspections in Workplaces Have Been Extended for Another 5 Years

OSHA announced that it has extended the “National Heat-Focused Program,” which aims to prevent workplace accidents and heat-related health issues, through April 2031. During this new phase, in which the scope has been further expanded, the criteria that inspectors will focus on during inspections have been codified into a clear checklist.

  • Key Points: In sectors such as construction, agriculture, and manufacturing, access to water and shade, work and rest hours, employee training, and the written documentation of processes will now be subject to much stricter oversight.
  • Recommendation for Employers: To avoid the risk of penalties, we recommend that you conduct an internal audit at your facilities immediately, using the newly published checklists as a guide.
