Textile Exchange is committed to continuously improving its standards system to ensure it remains relevant, robust, and impactful. As part of this ongoing process, we are inviting open feedback on the current version of the Organic Content Standard (OCS) V3.0 to refine and strengthen its framework.
The OCS is a chain of custody standard that tracks certified organic content through the supply chain. It accepts raw materials certified to any national organic standard recognized by the IFOAM Family of Standards and manages the traceability from the first processor through to the final product.
In 2021, we began a major revision of our standards framework, aiming to develop a harmonized system that aligns with the Climate+ strategy. The Materials Matter Standard (previously called the “unified standard”) was developed in this framework.
In 2024, we decided to maintain the OCS as a standalone standard while working to strengthen its framework. We are also exploring how it could be integrated into the Materials Matter system in the future.
Feedback and Consultation Process
The open feedback period will run from March 3, 2025 to April 30, 2025.
