Tell-Tex AG to Launch Major Textile Recycling Facility in Switzerland with Rematters' Suppor

Tell-Tex AG, one of Switzerland’s largest clothing collectors, has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art textile recycling center, set to open in 2026. The facility, with a processing capacity of 20,000 tons, will utilize advanced automated sorting and fiber-to-fiber recycling technologies. It aims to drive the transition from the textile industry’s linear model to a circular one, in line with climate goals and regulatory requirements like Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Switzerland and the EU.

The investment is supported by Rematters Textile Recycling Solutions, which provided engineering and consultancy services for the project. The center will process textiles from various sectors, including post-consumer waste, hospitality, and workwear, with the goal of repurposing high-quality garments for the second-hand market.

Ercüment Yıldırım, CEO of Tell-Tex AG, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability, stating that the center is part of their broader strategy to minimize their environmental footprint through innovative recycling processes.

Hakan Uçar, Co-founder of Rematters, highlighted the project’s significance as the first large-scale post-consumer textile recycling facility in Switzerland and one of the few of its kind in Europe.

The facility aims to create a circular supply chain for textiles, addressing both climate change and resource scarcity.
