The Rainforest Alliance has recently introduced an innovative new e-course and toolkit on Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), available for free to the public. Originally designed for farmer groups and mining associations in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, this resource is applicable across various sectors and regions, offering valuable tools that can be adapted for use by companies and other organizations.
Navigating human rights issues can be especially challenging for smallholder farmers and small-scale miners. The HRDD Toolkit aims to assist in addressing serious concerns such as forced labor, child labor, workplace violence, and harassment. It provides a robust collection of templates, guides, and resources, with careful attention to gender-related issues integrated throughout the course.
The toolkit features interactive videos that cover eight critical areas:
- Understanding Child Labor
- Unpacking Forced Labor
- Introduction to Human Rights Due Diligence
- Utilizing the HRDD Toolkit
- Commitment and Communication Strategies
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation
- Grievance Mechanisms and Remediation
- Monitoring and Reporting Processes
The Rainforest Alliance’s latest effort offers significant support for those tackling human rights issues, empowering both individuals and organizations to take meaningful action.
