The Rainforest Alliance (RA), a global leader in sustainability standards, has announced Version 1.1 of its new Labeling and Declaration Policy, which is of particular interest to supply chain stakeholders and certified farms. Published on September 29, 2026, the updated guidelines reshape the processes for logo and trademark use.

The Rainforest Alliance has updated its guidelines for certificate holders in line with the principles of transparency and reliability. The newly published Labeling and Declaration Policy (Version 1.1) establishes the basic guidelines for the use of RA trademarks and sustainability seals on packaged products or any non-packaging materials.

Under current regulations, companies must fully comply with a series of official procedures in order to use RA logos in their commercial activities or promotional campaigns. The basic requirements for organizations seeking to obtain brand usage rights and complete the approval process are as follows:

Platform Registration Requirement: All organizations wishing to use RA trademarks must first complete the official registration process on the Rainforest Alliance platform.

Valid License Agreement: As a prerequisite for obtaining authorization to use the logo, businesses are required to be parties to a License Agreement dated 2020 that remains valid.

Official Approval via the Declaration Platform: Before RA seals and trademarks are used in any public medium (product packaging, websites, promotional materials, etc.), the relevant organization must obtain official approval through the “Declaration Platform.”
